Upcoming Intensive Workshops

Diana M. Raab

“Memoir: from Notebook to Manuscript” with Diana M. Raab

Feb. 29-Mar. 2, 2008

This intensive will focus on the process of memoir writing. We will study the key elements of a compelling memoir, find your memoir’s focus, share ideas on bringing your memoir to life and discuss methods for gathering information. The course will be valuable whether participants write memoir in the form of books, poems or essays.

Participants will be encouraged to keep an accompanying journal while creating their memoir. Journaling is a powerful tool to develop ideas, practice writing and store anecdotes from the past. Participants will learn how to organize a journal for effective future use, and will also be given memoir writing exercises. Students will be encouraged (on a volunteer basis) to share their work for critique, and be instructed on how to provide constructive feedback in return.
