Wine Country Tour

New After-Conference Special Event

Consider joining your fellow writers for the SBWC Wine Country Tour of wineries in the Santa Ynez Valley on Friday, June 27. The conference ends on Thursday evening, and since you’ve come all the way to beautiful Santa Barbara, we suggest sticking around for the weekend to actually venture beyond the DoubleTree! Or maybe you’re a local but it’s just been so long since you’ve enjoyed the wine country in your own back yard.

We’ll take care of the details, all you have to do is show up at 8:45 a.m. with your palate ready to enjoy the wines of Santa Barbara County. Join your guide Rachel S. Thurston, author of The Beautiful Santa Ynez Valley for a day of wine tasting and exploring the Santa Ynez Valley. Enjoy a private tour while learning about the area’s wine-making history, tastings at three select wineries and free time to explore the shops and cafes in the beautiful historic town of Los Olivos. SBWC ends on Thursday evening after the Banquet, but your vacation doesn’t have to! Continue socializing with other conference participants while enjoying some beautiful scenery and local wine.

The cost of $80 per person covers transportation, guide, tour, and tasting fees. Please bring money for lunch. Tour departs at 8:45 a.m. from the Fess Parker and arrives back at 4:30 p.m.

The Wine Country Tour is open to spouses, friends, relatives, etc of conference attendees. You do not have to be registered for SBWC to join us.

Tentative Schedule (Subject to Change)

8:45 a.m. Leave the DoubleTree
10:00 Arrive at Firestone Winery for private tour and tasting.
11:15 Arrive at Curtis Winery for tasting.
12:30 Arrive in Los Olivos for lunch.
2:00 Bus leaves Los Olivos for next Winery.
2:15 Arrive at Rideau Vineyards for tasting.
3:15 Leave for Santa Barbara
4:30 pm Arrive back at DoubleTree.
